Z-Pack It Up!
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority chapters across the country host events to bring school supplies to disenfranchised populations. Towards this goal, the Eta Phi Zeta chapter hosted our 2nd Annual Z-Pack it Up! in conjunction with the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, inc. - Beta Phi Chapter on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Central Elementary School in Hillsborough. On Saturday, October 24, 2015, we will host our 3rd Annual Z-Pack It Up!
In our first year, more than 150 students attended this event and received a variety of school supplies--- pencils, folders, crayons, books, rulers, and other important academic tools that they otherwise would be without. In addition, select students received free haircuts and gift certificates to get their hair styled. Last year, we collected composition notebooks ONLY (per the school's request), as well as provided gift certificates.
As Malcolm X so eloquently stated, "Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." By hosting Z-Pack It Up! each year, we are preparing our youth for their future. This year, Eta Phi Zeta is focusing on our high school-aged youth and getting them prepared for life after high school. With guest speakers from varied fields, including financial management and college advising, attendees are sure to walk away with a greater confidence in their future and life after high school.
